Paruppu podi

Gram dal - 10gm
Toor dal - 10gm
Urad Dal - 10gm
Bengal gram - 10gm
curry leaves - a little
asafoetida - a bit
whole red peppers - 5-10
salt to taste

Roast the above without oil, add salt and asafoetida and grind into a very fine powder. The paruppu podi is the main part of the meal in South India. The first slot of the rice is served with this type of paruppu podi with a spoon of ghee.
