Vazhaipoo kootu


Vazhaipoo ( banana blossom) - 1
cooked channa dal - 200gm
grind coconut paste - 100 ml
dennel powder - 1 tea spoon
red chilli - 2
chopped onion - 100gm
mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon
urad dal - 1 tea spoon
turmeric powder - 1 tea spoon
curry leaves to garnish
oil - 10 ml
salt to taste


Clean and cut the banana blossom into small pieces. Heat oil in tave. Spurt mustard seeds, and add urad dal. Stir till golden color and add onion and chilli. Stir well. Add banana blossom, turmeric powder, salt. Mix well and close the lid. Cook in low flame. When half cooked add channa dal, mix well and continue cooking. Atlast add coconut paste with fennel powder. Mix well. allow to cook more for 2 minutes. Garnish with curry leaves and corriander leaves.
